Mahathma Movie review

My rating: 2.5/5

Much hyped release 'Mahathma' which is Srikanth's 100th film by number, not by release has been released on 9th Oct. Let's see how this flick is....

Plot:

Briefly to say the story is about a goon living in a basti who gets inspired by Gandhi's principles and follows non-violence. No other point is there in the story.

Performances:

Srikanth: Being his 100th film, he has put that extra effort which is clearly shown. But I feel that the intensity which was there in Khadgam was missing in this flick. But he carried the entire movie on his shoulder's.

Bhavana: One wonders what she has got to do with the story. She is only present to give bail to release the protagonist whenever he is booked in a case and a couple of songs. Neither she is glamorous or does with the skin show. Her character is immature. She is a negative point of the film.

Others such as Jayaprakash reddy is fine as villian. No comedy track. Some interlude dialogues provide some relief. Ram Jagan stands out with his historic get-ups. He is good. Rest are adequate.

Technical Departments:
Music especially BGM stands out. Editing is horrible. Cinematography is good in parts. Two songs are damn good. Screenplay is not that good. There are many loopholes in the story. Discussing those here is a mere waste of time. You don't find a typical Krishna Vamsi style in the direction. He lost his touch. Direction is like a newcomer's. One really wonders whether KV is the director or not. The less you talk about this much better.

Analysis:
First half is okay. The tempo goes down in the latter half. Overall the director failed to tell effectively the Gandhian principles. He could have made it like 'Lage raho Munnabhai'. But he added unnecessary masala elements to it and diluted the story.

Tailpiece:
You can safely avoid this flick. If you still wanna go, its at your risk just to kill time.
