Blue hindi movie review

My Rating: 3/5

PDVD-RIP Torrent Download(693 MB)

Starring: Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Zayed Khan, Lara Dutta, Katrina Kaif.

Music and BGM : A R Rahman

Plot:

The basic story is about the treasure hidden underneath the sea. This was when the treasure was on its way to India from Britain after India got Independence. Akshay Kumar is a business man and owns the Blue Fisheries and Shipping company. Sanjay Dutt works under him. Lara Dutta plays his love interest. Zayed Khan is Sanjay Dutt's younger brother and is based in Bangkok and is a bike racer. He fails in an assignment given to him by Rahul Dev and owes him $50 million. Zayed returns to Bahamas as his life is under danger. He is traced to Bahamas by Rahul Dev and his henchmen. Akki, Sanjay and Zayed then decide to retrieve the treasure from sunken Indian Navy ship Lady in Blue to pay off Rahul. The film has Katrina Kaif in special appearance as Zayed's love interest, it turns out later that she is Akshay's wife.

Perfomances:

Akki is good. Sanjay Dutt looks faded-out. He looks aged but is okay. Zayed is fine. He was as he is in his previous films. Not much change in the scope of acting. Lara dutta becomes important in the climax of the film. Surprise pack is Katrina Kaif and shez awesome. Rahul Dev is adequate.

Technical aspects:

One needs to have lots of guts to produce this movie of huge budget of 120 crores!! First mention is about Photography. Its of the first rate. Right from the starting of the film its awesome. The under water beauty is captured very well. Its splendid I say. You would see such work only in Hollywood flicks. Taking is stylish and you'll remember about The Deep and such genre movies after you watch this. BGM by A R Rahman stands out. Its very good. Editing is crisp. Direction is adequate for a debut.

Analysis:

First half is a bit slow but good. The tempo picks up in the second half. Certain action scenes have started off very well but the ending was stupid. They could have been better.

Bottom line:

Such kind of movies have never been made in Indian Cinema. Go watch it only on big screen for the photography effects!! Don't wait for a DVD.

Wake Up Sid movie review

My Rating: 3.5/5

PDVD torrent Download ( 700 MB )

Story:

Siddhardh aka Sid (Ranabir Kapoor) is an youngster who is on the verge of completing graduation. He is the son of billionaire industrialist. His father wants him to join in his company. But Sid is a lazy guy who caught up with his own world. During his graduation farewell party he meets Aisha (Konkana Sen Sharma) who comes from another city in search of job. She is seven years elder to him. They become thick friends. When Sid fails in the final year, his father scolds him. Sid leaves his home and starts staying in Aisha's place. The rest of the story is all about how he overcome's the laziness and straightens his life to become independent.

Performance:

Ranbir Kapoor is great. And Konkana was too good. She was gorgeous. Anupam Kher delivered yet another very good performance as a strict father.Others are adequate.

Technical departments:

Music is too good and is in sync with the theme of the movie. Cinematography is adequate. Editing is perfect. May be some cutting was needed in the second half. On a whole, its decent. First half is crisp, sharp and good. Second half was a bit lengthy but ignorable.

Tailpiece:

Go watch it. I would highly recommend this matured flick.!!

Mahathma Movie review

My rating: 2.5/5

Much hyped release 'Mahathma' which is Srikanth's 100th film by number, not by release has been released on 9th Oct. Let's see how this flick is....

Plot:

Briefly to say the story is about a goon living in a basti who gets inspired by Gandhi's principles and follows non-violence. No other point is there in the story.

Performances:

Srikanth: Being his 100th film, he has put that extra effort which is clearly shown. But I feel that the intensity which was there in Khadgam was missing in this flick. But he carried the entire movie on his shoulder's.

Bhavana: One wonders what she has got to do with the story. She is only present to give bail to release the protagonist whenever he is booked in a case and a couple of songs. Neither she is glamorous or does with the skin show. Her character is immature. She is a negative point of the film.

Others such as Jayaprakash reddy is fine as villian. No comedy track. Some interlude dialogues provide some relief. Ram Jagan stands out with his historic get-ups. He is good. Rest are adequate.

Technical Departments:
Music especially BGM stands out. Editing is horrible. Cinematography is good in parts. Two songs are damn good. Screenplay is not that good. There are many loopholes in the story. Discussing those here is a mere waste of time. You don't find a typical Krishna Vamsi style in the direction. He lost his touch. Direction is like a newcomer's. One really wonders whether KV is the director or not. The less you talk about this much better.

Analysis:
First half is okay. The tempo goes down in the latter half. Overall the director failed to tell effectively the Gandhian principles. He could have made it like 'Lage raho Munnabhai'. But he added unnecessary masala elements to it and diluted the story.

Tailpiece:
You can safely avoid this flick. If you still wanna go, its at your risk just to kill time.

Night at the Museum 2 movie review

My rating : 3.5/5

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (known outside of North America as Night at the Museum 2), is a 2009 American comedy film and the sequel to the 2006 adventure comedy film Night at the Museum.

It was released in cinemas on May 22, 2009.

Two years after Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) defeated the three night guards that plotted to steal The Tablet, he is now head of Daley Devices, a company that he founded to manufacture his inventions. These inventions, including the Glow-in-the-Dark Flashlight, the Unloseable Keyring, and the Oversized Dogbone, were created from his experiences as a former night guard. Upon revisiting, he finds that the American Museum of Natural History is closed for upgrades and renovations, and some of the museum pieces are being replaced by interactive holograms due to budget costs. The actual exhibits are due to be moved to the Federal Archives at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC. On the last night, Larry reconnects with his museum exhibit friends and finds out that several exhibits, including Theodore, Rexy, The Easter Island Head (Brad Garrett), and good Pharaoh Ahkmenrah (Rami Malek) and his Tablet are not moving to the Smithsonian Institution - without the Tablet of Ahkmenrah, the other exhibits will no longer be animated, something which Teddy has not told them so they can enjoy their last night. The next night, Larry gets a call from Jedediah (Owen Wilson), saying that Dexter stole the tablet last midnight and evil Pharaoh Kahmunrah (Hank Azaria), Ahkmenrah's older brother, is attacking them. Larry goes to Washington and visits the National Air and Space Museum, the National Gallery of Art and the Smithsonian Castle to find The Federal Archives with the help of his son Nick Daley (Jake Cherry).

The rest of the movie deals with how Larry gets back the tablet with many interesting plots happening which should be watched on the screen.

Larry is rehired at the museum as the night guard so as to watch over the rest of his friends, and meets a young woman who looks just like Amelia. The film concludes as they talk and walk off as Larry guides her toward the hall of miniatures. Jedediah and Octavius then fly by in a miniature airplane. During the credits, a man from a black and white photo of V-J day in Times Square is seen examining Larry's Blackberry cell phone, which Larry left in the photo, and makes a new discovery (for his time period). His mother calls him, and it is revealed that his name is Joey Motorola.

The movie is as good as its prequel. Its definitely worth a watch!!!

Sankham movie review

My rating : 2.75/5

Story:
The story is about Chandu (Gopichand) who is brought up by his uncle (Chandra Mohan) in Australia. Mahalakshmi (Trisha) stays in Australia along with her uncle. Chandu is fond of martial arts and he never gets a chance to exhibit them in real situations. Mahalakshmi is another martial arts freak. After a few misunderstandings they fall in love. Mahalakshmi is forced to come back to her home town in Kadapa (Rayalaseema ). Chandu comes in search of her. Meanwhile Sivaiah (Satyaraj) and his opponent Pasupathi (Kota Srinivasa Rao) belong to two neighboring villages. They have longtime enemity. The central part of the movie is how Chandu and Mahalakshmi are related to Sivaiah and Pasupathi.

Artists Performance:
Gopichand excelled as Chandu. He portrayed the required histrionics for his role. You have not seen him as full time comic role ( in the first half ). He is simply good at that. In the second half you can see trademark of Gopichand with his fights and all. But he needs to change doing such roles and do roles appealing to family audience. Well, coming to Trisha, its a normal role for her. Proper justification is not given why she suddenly falls in love with Gopichand. Nothing special about her character. The on screen chemistry between them is good. Tamil actor Sathyaraj is adequate. But I don't know why he was taken. Prakash Raj might have excelled in that role. But he is okay. Kota has done such roles before and he is good. Rest all contributed well.

Screenplay-Direction:

The director ('Souryam' Siva ) seemed to have inspired from many movies while writing this story. Direction is strictly ok. Its good in parts. Its a straight story without any twists. Should
have been better. Screenplay is not that gripping. There is vulgarity in some scenes in first half. Double meaning dialogues also find enough space. This may not appeal for family audience. It appeals only for masses.

Other departments:

Music scored by Thaman ('Kick' fame) is average. BGM is not that good but ok. It could have been far better. Manisharma could have been a better choice but he too is losing his magical touch these days. Songs are actually leg brakes for the movie. The could have been avoided. But u know..no songs..no Indian movie(general opinion). Cinematography is fine. Editing should have been better. Action sequences are good though much of it is thread work.

Analysis:

First half is comical. Ali's comedy is saving grace. His episode with Gopi is hilarious. Vulgarity and double meaning dialogues find enough space in the first half. The actual story is in the second half with typical Gopi style with full pack action sequences and blood shed. Venumadhav is wasted except for a couple of laughs. Climax is routine. No justification is given for the title 'Sankham'. Plus points are Gopi and action sequences. Negetive points are confused narration and lack of sensibility. It might appeal for B and C centers. You can give it a watch to kill your time.

The Hangover Movie review

My Rating: 3/5

The Hangover is a 2009 comedy film directed by Todd Phillips, written by Jon Lucas and produced by Daniel Goldberg. The movie was made for Warner Bros. Productions and made by Legendary Pictures. The film stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha, and Heather Graham.

The main plot follows four friends who travel to Las Vegas for a bachelor party, only to wake up the next morning not remembering a thing and missing the groom, whose wedding is scheduled to occur the next day.

Doug (Justin Bartha) is about to be married to Tracy (Sasha Barrese), and his friends — Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), and soon-to-be brother-in-law Alan (Zach Galifianakis) — take him to Las Vegas for a bachelor party. Tracy's father lends them his car, a vintage Mercedes convertible for the trip. The four get a suite at Caesars Palace hotel and casino, then sneak onto the roof and toast to the night ahead. The next morning, the three groomsmen wake up in the suite with no memory of the previous night, and realize that Doug is missing. Clues abound: the suite is in severe disorder, a tiger is in the bathroom, a baby is in the closet, Stu is missing a tooth, one of the suite's mattresses is impaled on a statue outside, Phil is wearing a hospital bracelet, Stu has an $800 ATM receipt, and a valet brings them a stolen police cruiser they dropped off the night before.

While retracing their steps, a doctor at the hospital informs them that they had traces of roofies in their blood, explaining their memory loss, and that they came from a wedding. They find the chapel, and learn that Stu, despite planning to propose to his controlling girlfriend Melissa, married a stripper named Jade (Heather Graham), the mother of the baby in the closet. The men visit her apartment and return the baby, but are taken by surprise and arrested for stealing the police cruiser. Phil negotiates their release in exchange for the three groomsmen "volunteering" as targets for a taser demonstration. They then retrieve the Mercedes from an impound lot and discover a naked Asian man in the trunk. The man attacks them and runs away, and Alan admits to spiking their drinks the night before with what he thought was ecstasy, but realizes the drug dealer must have sold him roofies instead. They return to the hotel and find former boxing champion Mike Tyson in their room, who was looking for his stolen tiger. Tyson knocks out Alan and orders them to return the pet to his mansion. They drug the tiger with roofies and transport it in the Mercedes, but before they reach Tyson's mansion, it wakes up and destroys the car's interior. Tyson plays security footage of the groomsmen's activities from the night before in an effort to help them locate Doug.

Resuming their search, the three are confronted by the thugs, who, as it turns out, are led by the naked man they found in the trunk of their car, Leslie Chow. According to Chow, the groomsmen have $80,000 of his money, which they accidentally took the night before. Chow demands it back in exchange for Doug, whom he has kidnapped. Unable to find the money, Alan uses his knowledge of card counting to win it playing blackjack. The money is repaid, but Chow had kidnapped a different Doug, who turns out to be the drug dealer who sold Alan the roofies. After a conversation with the Doug the drug dealer, Stu remembers that hotel windows do not open in Las Vegas, and deduces that the mattress on the statue must have been thrown from the roof, and therefore they must have locked a sleeping Doug on the roof as a prank. Rushing back to the hotel, they find him with less than four hours before the wedding. Stu and Jade agree that they cannot remain married, but promise to meet the following weekend to see what develops between them. Jade also reveals that Stu had pulled out his own tooth on a dare from Alan. As they rush home and make it to the wedding, Doug discovers he has Chow's $80,000 worth of casino chips in his pockets. Doug marries Tracy, and Stu breaks up with Melissa. As the reception ends, Alan reveals a digital camera he discovered in the back seat of the Mercedes chronicling the events they were unable to remember, and the four agree to look at the pictures only one time before destroying the evidence.

The BGM is situational and according to the sync of the film. Also photography. The photographs during rolling titles are hilarious. U wud enjoy a lot watching this film. Especially Alan's comedy. U can give a watch in ur free time.

Aliens in the attic Movie review

My rating: 3.25/5

Aliens in the Attic is a 2009 adventure family film produced by 20th Century Fox and Regency Enterprises and starring Carter Jenkins, Ashley Tisdale, Robert Hoffman, Henri Young, Regan Young and Austin Butler. The plot mainly revolves around the children in the Pearson family having to defend their vacation house. The film's previous title 'They Came from Upstairs' has been used as the film's tag line.

The Pearson family arrive at their dream vacation house in Michigan. The children discover a friendly alien living in their attic. However, he lives with three other aliens that are attempting to rule the universe. The plot mainly revolves around the children in the Pearson family having to defend their vacation house. Much of the comedy is derived from the aliens being able to occupy the minds of adults, and turn them into "space zombies". The kids, however, are immune. As Ricky has lied about his age, he quickly succumbs to the alien mind control, with predictably funny behaviour and actions. The kids must therefore forget their differences and start working together to defeat the aliens. Tom is anxious to cast off his "geeky" image, so much so he deliberately starts to fail at math, much to his Dad's chagrin. This causes them to clash often. Bethany is besotted with Ricky, who is a no-good womaniser, preying on younger girls. Tom and his cousin Jake could not be more different, but, by the end of the movie, they have both learned something from each other.

This movie really worth a watch for its nativity and comedy. U'll really like it. And the run time is 80 min. I recommend it.

Magadheera movie review:SPLENDID!!!

My rating:
3.75/5
Banner: Geeta Arts
Cast: Ram Charan Teja, Kajal Agarwal, Srihari, Sunil, Brahmanandam, Sarath Babu, Rao Ramesh,
Music: MM Keeravani
Background music: Keeravani & Kalyani Malik
Cinematography: Senthil Kumar
Dialogues: Ratnam
Art: Ravinder
Editing: Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao
Fights: Peter Hynes & Ram Lakshman
Styling: Rama Rajamouli
Story: Vijayendra Prasad
Screenplay & Direction: SS Rajamouli
Producer: Allu Arvind
Release date: 31 July 2009
Plot:

The story happens in the year 1609. Kala Bhairava (Ram Charan Teja) is the protector/cheif guard of Udayghad kingdom. Mitra (Kajal Agarwal) – the heir princess is in love with him. But there is a bad relative of the king who wants to marry her. Sher Khan (Srihari) plans to invade Udayghad. In the process ensued, all of them die. These four people take rebirth after 400 years in the contemporary era. Harsha (Ram Charan Teja) is a race biker. He falls in love with Indu (Kajal Agarwal). And a bad guy called Raghuveer is after her. The rest of the story is all about how they trace themselves back to the past and settle the unfinished business.

Artists Performance: Ram Charan Teja: In this movie, he gets an opportunity to do some real good performance and he performs them convincingly with effortless ease. And he had gone through tremendous physical toil in this film as it involves horse riding, sword fighting, dances and many more. His dance in Bangaru Kodipetta after the completion of Chiranjeevi’s appearance is stunning. He is gifted with a good voice and he should fine tune it further to come up with pristine Telugu diction.

Kajal Agarwal: She is the surprise pack of this movie. She never looked so gorgeous and lovely in her earlier movies. She is overwhelming in this movie. Soumya who dubbed her voice came up with fabulous job in the first half where heroine’s naughty and is in love. However, she needs to come up with better dubbing for emotional scenes and serious episodes.

Others: Chiranjeevi did a special appearance in Bangaru Kodi Petta remix song. He is shown in an unwanted scene.Brahmanandam and Hema comedy episode is mediocre. Srihari has relatively small screen presence. But his role is extremely powerful. He is excellent as Share Khan and his get-up and dialogue delivery is superb. And his Srikakulam dialect in the second half is very nice. The guy who did the role of villain has sharp features and he is adequate. Rao Ramesh is excellent in the role of Aghora. His voice and body language is wonderful. Sameer is good as the deputy of Srihari. Sunil and Brahmanandam are adequate. Mumaith Khan danced with Ram Charan Teja in Bangaru Kodi Petta. Kim Sharma did another item song. One wonders what Saloni is doing in this movie?

Technical departments:

Story - screenplay - directon:
Story of the movie is about rebirths. Rajamouli opened the movie by revealing the story right in the first episode. The challenge lies in Rajamouli’s handling of telling the story interestingly to the audiences though audiences know what he is going to narrate. Screenplay of the movie is good and the Rajamouli trade mark commercial paybacks are nicely inserted at regular intervals. Rajamouli who made a self-confession in the past that he is weak at narrating love stories makes a nice effort to come up with a convincing love story that penetrates eras and generations.

The following three episodes are visually extraordinary:
• The opening sequence.
• The shot where hero and heroine go to Bhairava to perform poojas.
• Marvelous art work carried to portray Udaigadh city of 1609AD
• Battle between Kalabhairava and 100 soldiers of Sher Khan
• Wonderful picturization of Dheera Dheera song
• Lord Shiva’s statue that brings hysterical feeling
• Helicopter and bike stunts of Ram Charan
• The shot involving of elevating camera on top angle between two pillars in flashback episode.

The following commercial payoffs will work big time
1. White Chunni thread (just like the thread of medal in Yamadonga film)
2. Picking up four important characters from the past and get them closer in the current time.
3. Ending the movie from where it started in the opening episode (usage of same weapons, location, sentiment etc)
4. Aghora tells villain how to recognize the hero. And the same symptoms occur during helicopter fight before interval.

The following scenes will create an impact:
1. The horse coming back to help the sinking hero.
2. Kill 100 people episode (inspired by 300 movie killing style where killing is shown more like poetry than a gore element). The opening credits have the counting of 100 as the backdrop and we realise the importance of it only after watching the last fight of the flashback.

The following scenes are mediocre:
• The basis of heroine misunderstanding hero is too flimsy.
• Chiranjeevi’s episode
• Dialogues in first 44 minutes
• Srihari’s car colliding with chopper looks comical in the serious fight of climax. .

Other departments:

Rajamouli should be appreciated for giving due credit to all his technicians by dedicating a full-song to them during the end titles of the movie. Watching that was fun. Songs scored by MM Keeravani are little disappointing when you listen to them on the stereo. But they are good on screen with visuals. Background music (a combined effort of Keeravani and Kalyani Malik) is excellent. Cinematography by Senthil Kumar is very good. It is extremely difficult to recreate the era of 400 years old and art direction by Ravinder is splendid. Fights composed by Peter Hynes are excellent. Dialogues by Ratnam are good. Styling by Rama Rajamouli is very good and you can see chic colors in the costumes worn by the lead pair in abroad song. Editing is good. Visual effects are nice. So is digital intermediate. But at the same time, there seem to be inconsistency in visuals throughout the movie. Some of the visuals are excellent and some of the visuals are good and some other are mediocre. Visuals are the results of combined effort of cinematographer, art director, visual effects department, DI team and film processing lab. One can see inconsistency in the postproduction of the movie. Production values of Geeta Arts are impressive and it is one of the biggest spent movie of Telugu film industry.

Analysis:

Opening episode of the movie is superb. First half of the movie is nice and second half is decent. The tempo goes down right after the flashback episode as it’s everybody’s guess that what follows is a predictable climax. The plus points of the movie are Ram Charan Teja, novel subject of rebirth, flashback episode, grandeur and commercial pay offs. On the flipside, there is tremendous scope for improvement in the second half. On a whole, Magadheera might not be a great film. But it is a good entertainer with nicely packed commercial elements and grandeur. Go and watch it in a theater near you with nice projection and good sound system.

The movie scores 4/5 by the virtue of technical values and adventurous attempt. It would have scored bigger if the first 44 minutes were also dealt well with sensible comedy and treatment.

Tailpiece:
There is uncanny resemblance to Arundhati and Magadheera stories. Both these films are about incarnations. Both these movies have aghora episodes. And villain lusts heroine and that forms the central conflict point in both these movies.

The movie is having overwhelming response all over the state. As said the movie should be watched in a good theater with good sound system.

'Magadheera' audio fares average and not up to the mark!!

It has been two days since the audio release of much hyped movie of the year 'Magadheera'. And the response is mixed. Many say that the audio is not up to the mark. The much hyped remix song 'bangaru kodi petta....' from megastars's blockbuster gharana mogudu stands stale. Music of this song is just okay and the voices have been lent by Ranjith and Sai shivani. The intensity required for this song is missing in Ranjith's voice. Other songs fare averagly with routine music. Not much to say about this album. You really wonder whether Keeravani gave this music?! But SS Rajamouli is known for his lavish presentation of songs on-screen which he has learnt from Raghavenra Rao might be the only saving grace and also BGM. Audio is definitely a minus and does not help the movie much. If the movie becomes a blockbuster then the audio sales might get pushed but otherwise a bad album from Keeravani. Not expected this from you sir!!!

And requests have been going from the fans to change the logo of the title as no movie in recent times registered a hit designed with a black logo title. Its getting a negative response. Hope you are listening designers!!

Maro Charitra shooting in Canada

As per reliable sourses, Dil Raju couldn’t able to procure visas for the entire unit for USA. Hence they are planning to shoot the film in Canada and pass it off as USA. The shooting of the film is supposed to start in this month, but couldn’t. The unit is expected to go to Canada next month. Ravi Yadav (cinematographer of Bollywood blockbuster Race) is making his debut as director with this movie. This film is based on K Balachandar’s yesteryear’s classic Maro Charitra. Micky J Meyer is composing music. Most of this film will be shot in abroad. Wait and see if it ends in a tragedy like the masterpiece or he'll make some changes according to present generation.

'Adurs' on October 14th???

October 14th is the date set for the release of NTR’s latest film 'Adurs' in the direction of VV Vinayak. This film is supposed to release in summer, but got postponed due to the injury to NTR. NTR is completely fit and raving to resume the shoot again on today. The movie will be wrapped up in this schedule. Expectations are sky high on this movie. NTR and brahmanandam in brahmin getups are said to be rocking the comedy section. Hope this will be another 'Yamadonga' for them. Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan is producing this movie on Vaishnavi Arts banner.

'Josh' on 12th August???

The unit of Naga Chaitanya’s debut 'Josh' returned to city after an exhausting schedule at golden temple city Amritsir. The last leg of the shooting is currently going on at Mehdipatnam now. An action seen is being composed which was okayed in a single take near PV express highway and was composed exactly opposite to Jr.NTR's office on 29th June. Dil Raju produces this movie by introducing Vasu Varma as the director. Karthika (daughter of yesteryear’s beauty Radha) is doing female lead. Dil Raju is aiming for 12th August release.

Mamata flirting Rana!!??

She is known as the mesmerizing beauty of the southern circuit(though that much seen is not there...) and is one of those rare starlets who is a combination of stunning looks and very good talents. She is none other than the Malayalam beauty Mamata Mohandas and right now she is making news for the wrong reasons.

It is being buzzed strongly that Mamata has been getting ‘cozy’ with Daggubati Rana, grandson of the movie Moghul D Ramanaidu. Apparently, Rana is busy with the shooting of his debut film with Sekhar Kammula and Mamata is said to be in Kerala.

The news is that Mamata has already quashed this as baseless rumors and is said to be lashing out at the origin of this news. Rana from his end is not available for any comment. While the mystery is on, only time will tell how much truth is there in this.!!

Spy cameras for Vedam shooting???!!

It is known news that the intelligent director Krish of ‘Gamyam’ fame has now launched his new multi starrer ‘Vedam’. The film has been getting a lot of attention for various reasons and prominent among them is the coming together of two heroes from strikingly different backgrounds.
They are Allu Arjun and Manchu Manoj Kumar, since then it is heard that a craze of sorts has developed and many are said to be working out ways and means to install spy cams at the shooting locations so that the stills or scenes from the film can be leaked out.

Krish is known to be a strict disciplinarian when it comes to shootings and not many are entertained to be present in the premises while the shooting is on. Wants to be another Shankar(ha ha ha...)So it now remains to be seen how he is going to overcome this challenge and come with his ‘Vedam’ without any leaks.

Nani for six-pack and colour enhancement

He is being deemed as a budding hero and true to his image, he has been coming up with good performances and also a strong screen presence. We are talking about the new lad Nani who made his debut with the film ‘Asta Chemma’ and came up with his latest offering ‘Ride’.

Now, an unusual buzz has been making rounds about Nani and it is heard that this hero has been hitting the gym to join the six pack league. The interesting bit is, he is also said to be going through few sessions for color enhancement that would make him a bit fair from his dusky shade.
This looks something opposite to what the foreigners do to get their skin tanned from fair. While it is not sure how successful Nani will be with his new approach, many are waiting to see how he would look if he does go ahead with the color enhancement thing.

Shruti Hasan says ok to Bikini but not in the presence of Kamal…

Shruti Haasan, Kamal Haasan’s light-eyed, fiery-natured daughter, is a month away from breaking into Bollywood.

Her romantic lead is Imran Khan, who Shruti has known since childhood. “He actually considers me his little sister, but that didn’t make it difficult for me to romance him on screen!” she laughed. But the film is not all romance. She’s done death-defying stunts “crossing all boundaries that might have ever existed while filming action scenes” and wounded herself too in the bargain. “But I’m proud of those bruises,” said Shruti.

She’s happy, however, that her superstar father didn’t drop on the sets. “I wouldn’t be able to act in front of him so I told him to stay away and watch the final product,” she smiled. Doing a bikini scene, too, would be difficult with Kamal around, she admitted. “I’m okay with wearing a bikini onscreen or showing a little skin. I don’t know why a great deal is made out of the bikini! All those who have worn it till date, have looked good, and if you have a great body — then why not,” she said, “but... my dad shouldn’t be in the same film!”

Her debut film apart, Shruti’s busy composing the music for her home production, a remake of A Wednesday in Telugu and Tamil with Kamal playing the lead. “You can imagine how nervous I am as both the films will release within a gap of a few days. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Composing music was a different experience altogether and it was challenging working with dad,” she said.

Mani Sharma turns producer!!

He is known as the Melody Brahma of the Telugu circuit and true to his title, he has come up with some really melodious tunes in his career. However, he seems to be going through a rough patch of sorts as his tunes are not hitting the chartbusters so now he is taking a different path.

We are talking about the veteran music composer Mani Sharma and now he is all set to make his debut as a producer. Reports say that Mani Sharma is looking at an investment of Rs 7 crores for his new project and it must be recalled that he did quite a bit of acting too whenever he could.

'Ride' movie review

My rating: 2.75/5

Genre: Youth/Family

Type: Straight

Banner: Sri Sai Ganesh Productions

Cast: Nani, Tanish, Shweta Basu Prasad, Aksha, Adarsh, Ahuti Prasad, Sudha, Kasi Viswanath, Brahmanandam, Dharmavarapu, Tulasi, Kinnera, Bikshu, Hema etc.

Music: Hema Chandra

Cinematography: Shyam K Naidu

Dialogues: Shashank Vennelakanti

Editing: Marthand K Venkatesh

Fights: Ram Lakshman

Story - screenplay - direction: Ramesh Varma

Producer: Bellamkonda Suresh

Release date: 5 June 2009

As the title suggests it’s a movie based on bike ride. Obviously it appeals for teens and let us see how far the movie reached expectations.

Story:

Mahesh (Tanish) is the responsible son of a middle class retired father (Kasi Vishwanath). He joins in Kapil Chit Funds as collection agent to add something to his father’s pension. As his employer (Brahmanandam) asks him to possess a bike to work in his company, his mother (Thulasi) gifts him one on loan.
On the other hand Arjun (Nani) is the son of an employee (Ahuthi Prasad) who believes more in savings than fulfilling the bike-desire of his son. Arjun is so passionate about bike that he finds no meaning in life without that. He studies in collage and dreams about possessing a bike every day.
Once, Mahesh loses his bike and finds that with Arjun. The tug starts from then. Has Arjun stolen Mahesh’s bike? Finally how that bike changes the lives of these two youngsters? That forms rest of the story.
Rani (Swetha) is the lady beside Mahesh and Pooja (Aksha) s the girl for Arjun.

Performances:

Nani is at his best. He is setting a trade mark for himself with unique voice and modulation of dialogues. There are many mass dialogues written for him and he delivers them with panache. His dances in Danchave Menatha song are pretty good. But at times, he is brining in monotony of expression carrying his Asta Chemma flavor. He should be conscious at that point. He proves to be a good suit for mass oriented roles.

Tanish is still tender in looks. He needs to add roughness to fit into the action oriented bill. Tanish’s body language, costumes and introduction scene in this is movie is modeled after hero Mahesh Babu. Tanish is really good in emotional scenes. But he is perfect fit for the role he portrayed in this film. He has to work on dialogue modulation.

Aksha is for glamour while Shwetha is with performance plus glamour. Like ‘e…p..u..d..u’, ‘e….k..a..d..a’ modulation in KBL, here she was give the mannerism ‘Ori Nayano..’. But that proved superfluous in some scenes. There is no much footage to the heroines. Aksha looks like a broader version of Trisha. She needs to shed a few pounds to look more attractive on the screen.

Three actors are borrowed from Nachavule film. Kasi Viswanath, small boy and hero’s friend are these characters. All these characters are like just an extension of their Nachavule performances. Ravi Babu should get some royalty for Ride film.

Kasi Vishwanth has slimmed down and now looking better than that of in Nachavule. Ahuthi Prasad has little to portray. Comedy would have worked on him to add value for his presence. Others are ok.

Brahmanandam-Praveen combination as bava-bavamaridi brought many laughs in theaters. Praveen seems to be promising artiste for subtle humor and comedy for many film makers these days.

Analysis:

As said above, it’s a concept that appeals to the age group of 13-19. The sentiment that surrounds a bike may not appeal for matured audiences. It’s a clear cut action-sentiment drama knitted around a two-wheeler.

First half of the movie is with good pace while second half pervaded with action episodes and chasing sequences. The climax is a bit lengthy but there is little scope to make it short.
The screenplay and direction is neat till the movie reaches interval point. The movie is over in the second half the moment when these guys decide to share the bike. The last 20 minutes of the movie which comes after resolving the main conflict appears like an undesired extension. The screenplay and direction is not satisfactory in the second half. The bike logically belongs to Tanish in this movie because the legal ownership is with him. The same bike is bought by Nani in chor bazaar. All it takes is a police complaint from Tanish in order to get rid of Nani. This basic point is ignored while writing story/screenplay for the second half.

Coming to technical aspects, Hema Chandra’s music is good and RR is also done well. Dialogues and direction is also up to the requirement. ‘Dhanchave menaththa koothura…’ remix on Nani and Aksha is canned in a perfect masala way.

The fights composed for this movie lack completeness and most of them are abrupt (for example we don't know what happens to the bike on railtrack in climax). Editing is average. Dialogues in the movie are partly good. The sentimental dialogues are well written.

First half is satisfactory. The writer/director falters in screenplay section in the second half. Ideally the movie is over the moment these two guys come to an understanding.
Navadeep’s appearance in guest role in climax is a bit interesting.

Bottomline:

For people who have seen uber stylish bike ads on TV, the chases and races shown in the film pretty mediocre. Ramesh Varma did a better job compared to his last film, but it is not good enough! On a whole, the movie has followed the formula of a youthful masala entertainer.

Oy! on July 3rd

Siddharth is currently shooting a song for Oy! film at Chennai. Oy! is likely to release on 3rd July though the previously announced date was 25th June. The shoot will be completed by Tuesday. Postproduction work is currently going on. Oy! music which was launched recently topped the chartbuster. Baby Shamili (Anjali fame) is making her debut as heroine with this movie. Anand Ranga is the director. DVV Danayya produces Oy!

Magadheera music launch on 28th June

Music of Magadheera is going to be launched on 28 June with maximum number of units in the music racks. There are lots of expectations on this movie as it is directed by SS Rajamouli. This extravagant movie is touted as the most expensive film ever made in Telugu film industry. It is said that the budget is whopping 35 crores !! Kajal Agarwal plays female lead.

‘Aakasamantha’ Sardarji Joginder Singh in Kamal’s ‘Eenadu’!!

It is known news that the film ‘Akasamantha’ has turned out to be a great hit at the box office. While many give the credit to the highly talented Prakashraj and his action, it is also said that another face had also contributed his bit. His name is Ganesh Venkatraman, the noted model.
Ganesh did the role of Sardarjee in the film and he is the leading man for the petite beauty Trisha. Now, he has gone into a complete contrast as there is news that he has been roped in for the film ‘Eenadu’, the remake of the Bollywood hit ‘A Wednesday’ which has Kamal Haasan and Venkatesh in the lead roles.
Ganesh is said to be taking up the role that was enacted by Jimmy Shergill in the Bollywood version. This is of an Encounter specialist and Ganesh from his end is said to be all thrilled with the role and the project. This will be a challenge for him given the contrast in the role.

To remind you, Ganesh was one of the NRI guys Rochak in the film ‘The Angrez’.

Varun Sandesh remuneration 1 Cr!!!

The lean and slender hero Varun Sandesh is the perfect example for shooting to fame overnight. This was due to the blockbuster debut movie of his ‘Happy Days’. Later, he scored another hit with his ‘Kotha Bangaru Lokam’ and right now, he is aiming for a hat trick with his third film ‘Evaraina Eppudaina’.
It is now being said that after ‘Evaraina Eppudaina’ and director Srikanth Addala’s new film, Varun is looking at hiking his price and it may go beyond Rs 1 crore. It seems as of now, he is getting Rs 75 lakhs and for the film with Dil Raju ‘Marocharitra’ he is getting about Rs 50 lakhs, on bargaining.
Given his huge appeal among the girls and the college going guys, Varun has surely made a mark but then industry sources say that it is too early for him to get into the Rs 1 crore league. Also, it could depend on the outcome of ‘Evaraina Eppudaina’ for him to determine about the exact price.

Dil Raju Pumping 'Airs' In Young Hero's Head

The wise men say that success is always to be felt in the heart and not in the head but then there are times when even a budding hero tends to walk three feet in air out of sheer ego. However, the cause for that sometimes tends to be people around him too.
This time, we are talking about the lean and lanky Varun Sandesh and the man with the golden hand Dil Raju. Industry sources say that Dil Raju has been pumping ego by giving continuous pat to Varun Sandesh, he has marketed the blockbuster movie Happy Days, and he also produced Kothabangaru Lokam.
And now, there is news that he took the Nizam rights of the new movie ‘Evaraina Eppudaina’. Varun himself bought the USA rights of ‘Evaraina Eppudaina’. While this could be a good business decision, it is said that Varun is showing starry airs it seems. Dil Raju is known for his shrewd approach and discipline so it is about time he instills that in Varun, say sources.

‘Asta Chemma’ Nani Injured In Road Accident

Nani is the hero who debuted and shot up to fame with the film Asta Chemma is now on silver screen freshly with his Ride. He met with an accident on Nalgonda Highway today as a Lorry hit his car hard. Despite the car damaged, Nani escaped the peril miraculously with minor bruises. Nani is now getting huge offers followed by positive talk for Ride and he is the turning of emerging as a mass entertaining actor.

Screen Talk: Singer Suneetha @ Rs 18 Lakh

She has been known as the most sensuous singer in the Telugu circuit and not only that, she has one of the most appealing looks that are good enough to make her a heroine too. She is none other than Suneetha and right now, she seems to be minting a fortune with her talent.
It is said that Suneetha charges per episode an amount of Rs 30000 and she is anchoring 2 episodes per day so one can understand the mathematics of her income by now. That’s around 18 lakh per month.!!! However, many say that Suneetha is worth every penny and she has a strong following not only for her voice but also for her looks.
Not only that, Suneetha is big time into providing dubbing for the lead heroines and so we are yet to get that into account. At this rate, one can imagine how talent is recognized and rewarded in our Tollywood and tele-circuit. Well, she is also busy with earning through lending voices for dubbing in films

99 hindi movie review

Movie: 99

My rating: 3.25/5

Punchline: what’s up…!!! Soch mat dubara

Banner: People Pictures

Genre: Comedy/Crime/Thriller

Cast: Kunal Khemu, Soha Ali Khan, Boman Irani, Cyrus Broacha, Simone Singh, Mahesh Manjrekar, Vinod Khanna & Amit Mistry

Music: Ashu, Roshan Machado, Shamir Tandon & Mahesh Shankar

Cinematography: Rajeev Ravi & Prakash Kutty

Art: Pradip Redij

Story - screenplay: Raj Nidimoru, Krishna DK & Sita Menon

Directed by: Raj Nidimoru, Krishna DK

Producer: Anupam Mittal & Aditya Shastri
Release date: 15 May 2009

Plot:

The story is set in the backdrop of 1999/2000 in Mumbai. Sachin (Kunal Khemu) and Zaramud (Cyrus Broacha) are thick buddies who do illegal duplication of SIM cards for a living. AGM (Mahesh Manjrekar) is a cricket bookie. Sachin and Zaramud are forced to work under AGM because they owe tons of money to him. Rahul (Boman Irani) is a gambler who loves to bet on cricket and play poker in illegal clubs at Delhi. AGM summons Sachin and Zaramud to recover the betting money from Rahul. In a strange circumstance, Sachin and Zaramud are forced to join hands with Rahul to save their neck from AGM. The rest of the story is all about how these three people play the game!

Actors:

Kunal Khemu has improved in this film in terms of histrionics and looks. A different hair-do did the trick with his looks. He is excellent. Cyrus Broacha is at ease and provided comic relief. Boman Irani is simply superb. He epitomizes typical mentality of a gambler who is very good at heart, but has a strong weakness for gambling. Mahesh Manjrekar is extremely impressive as the bookie. Soha Ali Khan is adequate as partner in crime. Amit Mistry is amazing as the smalltime kingpin with ‘dimple’ character is really worthy and evokes laughter. Vinod Khana is perfect.

Technical departments: Story - screenplay - direction:

The telugu duo Raj, DK and Sita Menon came up with an authentic storyline by inserting references to the events occurred in 1999/2000. The ongoing mobile phone revolution and eruption of betting scandals are well incorporated. The direction of the film is neat. Screenplay is pretty good. Hooking the initial accident to join three major characters, using of Rahul’s bag and ability of Rahul to read signs/people are well used in writing an interesting screenplay. On the flip side, the relationship between Kunal and Soha Ali is not properly exploited. The runtime of the movie is lengthy for a story like this as the main story starts only in the second half. I liked the following things in the movie –
1. Title cards: The way titles cards are made in this movie is highly innovative.
2. The scene in which Kunal slaps Amit Mistry. This is best scene of the movie. The character of Dimple adds lot of fun.
3. Cell phone: Kunal and Zaramud believes that using cell phone will affect your brain, heart and other parts. Boman flaunts the cell phone used in Matrix film. The discussions about the snake game also reminds us of the days when cellular market was penetrating in India.
4. Boman Irani character: His character is full of surprises and his ability to read signs is very good. The way he tried to appease his wife by saying ‘jaan’ is also good.
5. The final 20 minutes of the movie after the last cricket match is shown.

Other technical departments:

Cinematography of the film is warm and realistic. Music is nice and peppy and reminds us a little of retro music like ones they use in Quentin Torantino movies. All the songs are worth listening. Cheers to the trio. Dialogues are witty. Editing is fine. Art directions deserve special mention for capturing the late 90’s.

Analysis:

Telugu directors duo Raj – DK started off their journey with a nice English film titled ‘Flavors’. Their second outing is this Bollywood flick ‘99’. Though it is a nice comedy thriller, it is an off-beat movie for the regular film lovers who enjoy the commercial cinemas in Bollywood. 99 is a hatke movie made on an interesting premise of cricket betting. It is a different movie and it will take time to sink in. The things that work against the movie are the runtime and the bonding between Kunal Khemu and Soha Ali Khan. If you want to see a different yet entertaining movie, 99 is the one for you!

Allari Ravi’s next movie is going to be a thriller and Amaravathi is the title under consideration. This film will be produced by Bhavya Creations that delivered a hit flick Souryam with Gopichand in the last year. Allari Ravi is currently in USA and the movie shooting will start as soon as he returns to Hyderabad. This film will sport all new faces. With two back-to-back hits like Anasuya and Nachavule from the stable of Ravi Babu, there will be lots of craze for Amaravathi.

Krish latest movie Vedam with Allu Arjun, Manoj Manchu launched at Cinemax

Krish, who debuted with blockbuster ‘Gamyam’ is all set to hold the megaphone for his next venture ‘Vedam’. Vedam was launched at Cinemax today morning starring stylish star Allu Arjun, Manoj Manchu and Anushka in the main leads. K Raghavendra Rao sounded the clapboard and K Raghavendra Rao switched on the camera. Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni produce this movie
Arka Media Works banner.

Initially planned with new faces – Krish

Krish said, “Nobody believed me when I said i am doing a multistarrer in Telugu. I was preparing script for Venkatesh’s Krishnam Vande Jagadguram and there was some delay in sealing on it. I took permission from Venkatesh to do another film in the mean time. Initially i planned to make this movie with new faces. Allu Arjun has been showing interest for a while to work with me and when narrated the script, Allu Arjun came forward to do a role of slum star and it increased my levels of confidence and I could able to rope in other stars. Manoj Manchu is doing the role of a rock star. Mohan Babu also liked the story. Doing a multistarrer is not a reality in Telugu films and I would like to thank Allu Arjun and Manoj Manchu for accepting this project. There will be five important characters in this movie played by Allu Arjun, Manoj Manchu, Anushka and a old person. Anushka is doing a bold role. The shoot will be complete by December 2009.”

Vedam is about five stories – Allu Arjun

Allu Arjun said, “People say that story is the hero for any movie. But for Vedam, director Krish is going to be the main hero. I selected a particular character after listening to the script. Manoj Manchu and Anuksha are also doing other important characters. I feel that you need two hands to clap. That is why we are putting our egos aside and doing this movie. There will be five interwoven stories in the movie and each story belongs to one of the 5 main characters. Bollywood Manoj Bajpai is doing another important character. An old man is doing the 5th character. The old character will steal the show. My uncle Chiranjeevi patted my back when i told him that i am doing a multistarrer. There is positive vibe among the team about this movie and i am confident about the success of this movie. And success of this movie will create a new trend of multistarrers.”

I was supposed to act in Gamyam – Manoj Manchu

Manoj said, “I was supposed to act in Gamyam and it didn’t happen. I told Krish that i wouldn’t mind doing a villain role as well if he casts me. Vedam is a commercial film with international quality. I want to prove myself as an actor and I am not doing this movie for stardom. Allu Arjun met me one day and asked me if I met Krish. When I said no, he asked me to immediately meet him. I am hugely impressed by the story. I am happy to work with Bunny.”

'Boni' movie review

Film:
Boni

Rating: 2.25/5

Cast: Sumanth, Krithi, Trinetrudu, Tanikella, Jayaprakash Reddy, Ahuti Prasad, Chandramohan, Babloo, Velu, Satyaprakash, Sudha, Surekha Vani etc
Cinematography: Andrew

Director: Raj Pippala

Producer & Music: Ramana Gogula

Release date: 12 June 2009

Boni is one of the movies which has kept the folks exciting with its different title and publicity in the last two weeks. It has been a while since Sumanth has not been able to score a hit in his career but this time, he has come up with another rather interesting title. Yet again in a mass entertainer, let us see if Sumanth scored success in this or not.

Story:

D D (Sumanth) and Chinna (Trinethrudu) are childhood friends and they grow up to be recovery agents and goons.
They have a long ambition of setting up a Pulihora Centre and for this they need money. So they join the mafia don Giri (Tanikella) and he gets them to Das (Jayaprakash Reddy) another evil don. Meanwhile, a sequence of events happens and DD kidnaps Pragati (Krithi), daughter of Minister Prasad Reddy (Ahuti Prasad).
However, Pragathi is happy she got kidnapped but there is a small twist which she and DD realize at a later stage. What is that twist and how DD comes out of it forms the rest of the story? Why Pragathi is happy for kidnap? That forms rest of the story.

Performances:

Sumanth has come up with a mild performance and though his is a mass role, he still has a classy look which is a contradiction. He lacked in those energies that a mass hero should possess. Somehow he proved once again that his body language suits only for class roles in films like ‘Godavari’ but not mass ones.
Krithi looked gorgeous and at ease in front of the camera, she has traces of Jayaprada in few shots. Trinetrudu provided few lighter moments, Tanikella was effective, Jayaprakash Reddy was regular, Ahuti Prasad had a brief presence. Chandramohan was alright, Babloo was just average, the others did not have much to contribute. Both Tanikella and Chandramohan got due footage in this movie.
The dialogues were regular, script was written but there was no depth, screenplay was adequate, both background score and two songs were credible and worth listening, cinematography is above average, and the art and costume department did a good job. Keeping the artistic bent and creativity in titles and picturing songs, entire movie proves to be heavy for audiences with weak narration.

Analysis:

The film takes off on a rather mild note and it must be said that the chemistry was missing on the screen. The technical values are very high but the content and the narration needed lot of energy. Sumanth needs to focus more on doing classy and urban roles since his attempts to get into the mass category are not up to satisfaction.
While the first half goes about in a regular fashion, there are few sequences in the second half that keeps the audience busy but yet again, the feeling was missing on the screen. The film is more for the multiplex audience though it has a mass backdrop and the makers should have worked more on the comedy. The trigger of romance is something that is missing a great deal although Harshavardhan could attempt well. The film might pass off as a technically well made and some fairly decent songs but as such success would be difficult for this.

Young Hero Running Behind KBL Heroine

The super hit movie ‘Kotha Bangaru Lokam’ brought to Tollywood a new beauty in the form of the giggly and innocent Swetha Basu Prasad. Currently, this pretty girl is seen in new movie ‘Ride’. She paired up with the new hero Tanish who scored a debut hit with the film ‘Nachchavule’.
Now, the film nagar has been buzzing with a grapevine that Tanish has been smitten by the charms of Swetha and has been giving her extra attention. Unit sources are saying that though the movie released, Tanish is still said to be making it a point to keep in touch with Swetha.
However, sources close to both quash this as baseless rumors and there are those who say that all this is a mere publicity stunt. Well, the film industry is one place where many things happen and no one denies or confirms those happenings. So only time will tell what the real story is. Stay tuned folks..!!

Sanjana In Love With Prabhas?

Buzz says that Sanjana is hit by love heat and is frequently meeting Prabhas. She also lauds him in big way whenever she is with her friends it seems. Earlier she also said that she was educated in big way with tips in acting by Prabhas.
Prabhas is now in top list of most popular actors demanding huge mass following. His latest film Billa also did well at box office with music and other factors like Anushka and Namitha. We have to see if Sanjana's signals will be received by Prabhas.

'Mallanna' Audio Giving Tough Competition!!

The theory in the film industry is that if the audio gets a good response then the film eventually becomes a hit, though there are a few exceptions. So, the movie makers tend to put a lot of attention on the music and songs. Now, one film has been rocking the chartbusters with its audio.
We are talking about the long awaited ‘Mallanna’ that has been in the pipeline for two years and now the time has come for it to hit the screens. Recently, the audio release happened and it is heard that the album has been giving a tough competition to the other straight Telugu movies.
The tunes have been composed by the highly talented Devisri Prasad and it is said that right now ‘Mallanna’ is vying for the top slot with albums like ‘Kick’ ,‘Billa’, ‘Sneha Geetam’ and others. Now that the audio has done its job, let us wait and see how the movie does its part.

Run time of 'Magadheera' 4 hours???!!!

According to reliable sources the answer seems to be YES. ‘Magadheera’ has been the most awaited movie of this season and given the names associated with it, the film sure looks exciting. Incidentally, the film was due for release in the month of April but sources reveal that it will be hitting the screens in the month of July now. Meanwhile, there is news that the film’s length has reached a marathon 4 hours and now the tough task master S S Rajamouli who is the director, is said to be sitting to cutting it to two and a half hours. Both S S and the editor are currently in that work which would take quite a while. However, there is also news that many have been advising S S to store the edited versions and use them to look at a sequel after 5-6 months once the original is released. With so many efforts and investment that has gone in, this sure looks good enough for a sequel, if true. What say Rajamouli???
